Tuscany's Gate of Heaven opens its doors
Show all 5The interior of Siena’s Duomo has drawn visitors to the Tuscan cathedral for centuries to wonder at one of the world’s most intricately decorated religious buildings.

Now, after years of renovation work, it opens a series of enclosed spaces previously only accessible to builders, allowing the public close-up views of the magnificent vaulted ceiling, which is known as the Porta del Cielo, or Gate of Heaven. The cathedral dates back to the 13th century.
